Niykee keeps writing music despite having been swept up in the recent crisis. Niykee was selected for this year's YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and he accompanied her on stage. As a producer magnet, Niykee has a constant eye on beats delivered to her. She finds that most of them spark new songs. She states that she can discern if a beat is great in only 5 minutes. And then, a brand new song will pop into her mind. I sit on my front porch and play my guitar and lyrics appear and it's usually all done in under 30 minutes. Niykee says that as she develops as a lyricist, the painful memories of her childhood are an source of inspiration. She says that even when she's not composing about the things which are actually happening the pain from childhood and loss of her sister finds it's way into her music. The resulting music is shaped by my experiences and adds a greater meaning, which I find crucial. I want to be able to hear my music 20 years from now and be proud of my words.
