He is the son of Francesco Stallone Jr. (a hairdresser) and Jackie Stallone (astrologer, and dancer). Frank Stallone is his younger brother and actor. Due to complications during the birth of Sylvester, his lower left side was crippled. This gave him his famed "snarling" and slurred speech and distinctive appearance. Due to the conflicting relationship between his parents, Stallone spent his first years in foster care. They split later. Stallone was a drama student at the American College in Switzerland before moving on to the University of Miami. He left the school before having completed his studies and relocated to New York City to pursue acting as a profession.
